Terms of Service

Last updated 26 September 2026

1. Who we are

Vigilo is a vehicle maintenance app. These terms are an agreement between you and the publisher of Vigilo ("we", "us"). By creating an account you accept them, together with our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with your data.

Vigilo is a reminder and record-keeping tool. It is not a substitute for your manufacturer's service schedule, your vehicle's handbook, a roadworthiness inspection, or a qualified mechanic (see section 4).

If you do not accept these terms, do not create an account.

2. Who may use Vigilo

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. One account belongs to one person. The email address on the account is its identity: it is how you sign in, how other drivers invite you to a vehicle, and how we contact you.

You may sign up with an emailed code, or with Google or Apple. An account is opened by the method that created it: an account created with Google is opened with Google, and an account created with an emailed code is opened with a code.

Vigilo is offered in Morocco. Using it from elsewhere is at your own initiative.

3. What Vigilo does

Vigilo helps you look after the vehicles you register. In particular it:

  • builds a maintenance schedule for each vehicle from its make, model, engine, fuel, gearbox and mileage, and tells you what is due, due soon or overdue;
  • keeps a service history of the maintenance you record;
  • keeps the expiry dates of your vehicle papers (insurance, vignette, contrôle technique and registration) and reminds you before they run out;
  • reads a carte grise with your phone's camera to fill in a new vehicle for you;
  • reminds you to update your mileage, including — if you allow it — when you stop at a fuel station;
  • reads your mileage from an OBD-II Bluetooth dongle, if you connect one;
  • syncs your records to your account, so they follow you to a new phone;
  • lets you share a vehicle with people you invite.

4. What Vigilo is not

Vigilo helps you keep track of your vehicle. It does not inspect, diagnose or certify it.

Intervals are guidance. The intervals and specifications Vigilo shows (oil grades, belt and brake intervals, tyre sizes and the like) come from general catalogues and may not match your exact model, trim, engine, or driving conditions. Where the app suggests a value, it says so and invites you to check your manual.

Estimates are labelled. When you register a vehicle, Vigilo assumes it was serviced on schedule up to its current mileage, until you tell it otherwise. Rows based on that assumption are marked as estimates. Confirm or correct them.

Safety is yours. Decisions about the safety of your vehicle — whether it is fit to drive, whether a part needs replacing — remain yours and your mechanic's.

5. The information you give us

The schedule is only as accurate as what you tell it. Vigilo measures your maintenance against the mileage you enter. If you do not update your odometer reading, the app will under-report what your vehicle is due. You are responsible for the accuracy of the readings, dates, documents and services you record.

Readings from an OBD-II dongle are read from the vehicle as it reports them. Vigilo may ask you to confirm a reading that looks wrong. It does not guarantee that a vehicle or an adapter reports correctly.

When a scan of a carte grise fills in a field, check it before you save it. The scanner can misread.

6. Your account

Keep access to your email address and your sign-in method secure. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has access to your account.

You may add a phone number in Settings to help recover your account. It is optional and is verified by a text message before it is saved.

You may delete your account at any time from Settings. Your records are made unreadable at once and can be restored, at your request, for 30 days. After 30 days the ability to restore them is destroyed. Maintenance history that belongs to a vehicle rather than to you may be kept in anonymised form, with nothing that identifies you.

7. Plans and payment

Free. The Free plan covers one vehicle and the core part of its maintenance schedule, the papers, reminders and cloud sync.

Pro. The Pro plan covers as many vehicles as you like, the vehicle's full maintenance schedule, vehicle sharing and OBD-II mileage reading. The Plans page in the app shows what Pro includes on the day you buy it.

How you pay. Pro is sold only through the Apple App Store and Google Play. The store takes the payment, under its own terms, and you manage it there. We never see your card details. The price is shown in the app and by the store before you confirm. It includes any tax the store collects.

Lifetime. A one-time purchase. It does not expire, and it is tied to your Vigilo account rather than to one phone.

Annual. A subscription for one year that renews automatically at the price then shown, unless you cancel it in the store at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep Pro until the end of the year you paid for. Buying again extends from that date, never from today.

Refunds are handled by the store, under its refund policy. We cannot issue a refund for a store purchase ourselves.

Restoring. If you change phone or reinstall, sign in to the same Vigilo account and use "Restore purchases" if your plan does not appear.

When Pro ends, nothing is deleted. Your main vehicle stays usable. Your other vehicles stay listed but are locked until Pro resumes. The vehicles you share are paused. When Pro resumes, all of it returns untouched. You choose your main vehicle while you are on Pro.

Price changes. We may change the price of Pro for future purchases. A price change to an annual subscription applies only from a renewal, and the store will tell you before it applies, as its rules require.

8. Sharing a vehicle

On Pro you may invite other people to a vehicle you own by their email address. You choose whether they can only view or can also edit, and what they can see (maintenance, papers). An invitation grants nothing until the person accepts it.

You are responsible for who you invite and for what you let them see. You can change or withdraw access at any time, on any plan, and withdrawing never needs Pro. Someone you invite can never remove your vehicle or manage its sharing. When a person with edit access changes your vehicle, we may notify you.

If someone shares a vehicle with you, what you can do with it depends on what the owner granted and on your own plan. The owner can withdraw access at any time. If the owner's Pro plan ends, their shares are paused until it resumes.

Only register or share vehicles you own or have the right to manage.

9. Scanning and improving the scanner

When you scan a carte grise, the photo is read on your phone. It is never uploaded or kept.

If "Improve scanning" is on, Vigilo sends the text the scanner read and the corrections you made, with personal details removed or reduced to their shape, to help us make the scanner more accurate. Each record is encrypted on your phone before it is sent. The switch is on for a new account, and you can turn it off at any time — during sign-up, or later in Settings. Turning it off stops anything further being sent. "Delete my scan contributions" in Settings erases what your account has already sent. The Privacy Policy describes this in full.

10. Reminders and notifications

Vigilo schedules reminders on your phone. They depend on your phone's notification, battery and background settings, which Vigilo cannot control. A reminder may be late or may not arrive. Keep an eye on your papers' dates yourself, especially where the law requires them.

You can switch reminders off, per vehicle or as a whole, and set quiet hours in Settings.

11. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use Vigilo to break the law, or to record vehicles or documents you have no right to;
  • invite people who have not agreed to hear from you, or send invitations in bulk;
  • try to reach other people's data, to get around a plan's limits, or to use Pro features without paying for them;
  • interfere with the service, overload it, or reverse-engineer it except where the law allows;
  • use automated means to create accounts or to send codes, texts or invitations.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, or that puts the service or other drivers at risk. Where we can, we will tell you why first.

12. Our content

The app, its design, its catalogue of vehicles and maintenance intervals, and its text and images belong to us or to our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app for your own vehicles while your account exists. Your records remain yours.

13. Availability

Vigilo works offline for your own records, and we intend it to keep working. Features that need a connection — signing in, syncing, sharing, buying Pro — depend on it. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change or retire features. If we retire a feature that is part of Pro, we will tell you in advance.

14. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for vehicle damage, breakdowns, repair costs, missed maintenance, fines or penalties arising from your use of the app, or from reminders that were missed, late, or based on information that was not up to date. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Pro in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here excludes or limits a right you have as a consumer that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including under Moroccan Law 31-08 on consumer protection.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Vigilo after that means you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, you may delete your account.

16. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the Kingdom of Morocco. Before going to court, please write to us: most problems are solved faster that way. Any dispute that cannot be settled amicably goes to the competent courts of Morocco, without prejudice to any court the law makes available to you as a consumer.
